Great resources for Graduate Students

Use Other Libraries

Use SUNY Libraries

As a current Brockport student you have full access, including borrowing privileges, to all other State University of New York (SUNY) libraries. You must bring your valid SUNY Brockport ID card.

Use Rochester-Area Libraries

The RRLC Access Pass is a direct borrowing program that enables library users affiliated with a participating library to access materials onsite and borrow directly from another library with which they are not formally affiliated. The program is meant to provide serious library users with access to resources that are not available at their home library, nor available in other libraries open to the public. Current Brockport students and faculty are eligible to obtain a pass. For further information and to request a pass, please contact Pam O'Sullivan (posulliv@brockport.edu) in person, Monday-Friday in the Drake Memorial Library. The RRLC Access Card allows you to borrow materials on-site from most Rochester-area academic libraries including University of Rochester, St. John Fisher, and Rochester Institute of Technology.

 Use Other Libraries

If you don't live close to a SUNY institution, we can help you access another college or university library to use their books and resources. Email us at askdrake@brockport.edu to request access to another library.

Tracking Down a Citation

When you'd like to track down a citation, complete the following steps:

  1. Identify the Citation -- is it a book, book chapter or article?

  2. If the item is a book, search WorldCat

  3. If the item is an article, use Article Look up by Citation

Before Giving Up

If you're frustrated and thinking about giving up your search for a book, search the following places:

  1. Google Books - you might find a preview of the book or more information.
  2. Amazon.com - you might find a few pages that will help you decide if the book is worth locating.
  3. WorldCat.org - find out which library has it.

If you know the book exists in another area/SUNY library, you can make the decision to go there (with the RRLC Access Card or your Brockport ID) or request the item through interlibrary loan.
