Formatting Your Paper in APA

Please use the template to create your APA style paper.  It will help you set up your cover page, abstract, headings, running head, and references list.  Note:  If your instructor has asked for special formatting (such as no author's note), the template may be changed to suit your needs.

Standards - APA 7th

National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, Council of Chief State School Officers. (2010). Common core state standards (insert specific content area if you are using only one). Washington D.C.: Author. http://corestandards.org/

New York State Education Department. (2017). New York state next generation English language arts learning standards. http://www.nysed.gov/common/nysed/files/programs/curriculum-instruction/nys-next-generation-ela-standards.pdf

New York State Education Department. (2017). New York state p-12 learning standards for mathematics (revised 2017). http://www.nysed.gov/new-york-state-revised-mathematics-learning-standards

If you are citing multiple NYS standards from 2017, place them in alphabetical order by title and alter the dates to 2017a, 2017b, and 2017c depending on how many you are using.

  • If you want to use NYSED for in-text citations, it should look like this with the first entry:
    (New York State Education Department [NYSED], 2017)

Example:

YouTube

Author, A. A. [Screen name]. (year, month day). Title of video [Video]. YouTube. http://xxxxx

If the author's real name is not available, start with the screenname without brackets.

Example:

CBS Evening News. (2016, July 13). Eighth grader's white privilege poem goes viral [Video]. YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk3KHGfN8yE
