About This Module

This learning module is for students. It helps you learn how to evaluate sources of information using a step-by-step process, moving through a checklist. The process is called the TRAP method.

Ask a librarian if you have any questions about the TRAP method, or anything else about research, or using the library.

About the Information Literacy Modules

The Drake Memorial Library Information Literacy Modules are created and maintained by Drake librarians. They are learning resources faculty can use in their online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes, to teach information literacy skills and concepts. This module is the first in a series, which the librarians are currently developing.

Please contact the library with any questions.

How do I assign this module?

You can integrate this module in Blackboard. Contact the library to find out more. (Instructions coming soon to our website!) We highly recommend adding learning assessments to this module, in order to achieve specific learning objectives. You can ask a librarian to add a general assessment, or you can work with a librarian to create a customized assessment for your students.

What is information literacy?

Information literacy is the ability to recognize when you need information, and to be able to locate, evaluate, and effectively use the information you need.
