- Google BooksHundreds of thousands of books, many of which have free full-text, most of which have previews or snippets only.
To find only those with free full-text, use the Advanced Search and click on "Full view only" radio button. - Internet Archive : TextsHundreds of thousands of free full-text titles covering a wide range of fiction, popular books, children's books, historical texts and academic books.
Can view in many file formats, including: PDF, ePUB, Kindle, Daisy, DiVu, HTML. - HathiTrust Digital LibraryOver 3 million public domain free full-text books (over 7 million with snippet views).
To search within the full text of the free books, search in the center box "Full-Text Search."
To search for titles available in full-text, click on "Advanced Full-Text Search" in the center box "Full-Text Search." - National Academies PressPublishes the over 200 reports per year from the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, The Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council. Contains over 4,000 titles PDF format, which can all be downloaded for free by the chapter or the entire book (or they can be read online by chapters, in HTML format).

The historical collections include a large array of 18th and 19th century historical materials from many subject areas, including the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, Native American materials, New York State laws and natural history. While books make up the core collection, other primary source materials include: letters, diaries, rare manuscripts, historic photographs, illustrations, maps, broadsides, drawings and music scores.
